Admission into the ECU MS-DI and DI-Only
Admission Requirements for the MS-DI:
**Applications open November 1st, 2024, with notifications by March 1, 2025**
- Grade point average of 2.7 or higher overall undergraduate. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA during the first year of graduate coursework before entering into supervised practice.
- Completed bachelor’s degree with a verification statement or Intent to Complete Form from an ACEND-accredited DPD program
- Completed DICAS application. DICAS charges $50 for the first application, and $25 for each additional.
- DICAS application requirements:
- Personal statement describing reasons for applying, short and long term goals
- 2 letters of recommendation on your ability to work as a future registered dietitian considering professionalism, knowledge base and overall potential in the field. One should be current program faculty and the other a work supervisor, preferably an RDN
- Updated resume
Once accepted into the MS-DI, admission is contingent upon completed application to the ECU Graduate School. Students applying into the MS-DI apply as Master’s. You will also have to submit 2 letters of recommendation and official transcripts.
After interns are admitted to the ECU MS-DI, they will complete the first year of coursework online, which can be done from anywhere. The second year, interns will move to Greenville, NC and be assigned rotation sites in Eastern North Carolina.
Admission Requirements for the DI/Verification Statement Only Option:

Once accepted into the DI-Only, admission is contingent upon completed application to the ECU Graduate School. Interns applying for the DI Only Option apply as Graduate Non-Degree. You will also have to submit 2 letters of recommendation and official transcripts.
After interns are admitted to the ECU Dietetic Internship, they will be assigned rotation sites in June and finalized in July to allow for ample time to secure housing. Rotation sites are in and around Greenville, NC.
Online Components of the Program and Technology Requirements:
The ECU dietetic internship has two virtual rotations and two virtual evening classes (an evening synchronous online class in the Fall and Spring). All of these are password protected WebEx links only distributed to those enrolled in the class or rotation. Not all interns participate in the virtual supervised practice rotations, however all interns enroll in NUTR 6600 and NUTR 6102. No testing is conducted online. Interns must have a computer with reliable internet access, preferably a headset and microphone, and be situated in a quiet place.
